The Velseis R&D Team

  • Steve Hearn received a B.Sc.App.(Hons) with University Medal, and a Ph.D. in Geophysics, from the University of Queensland. He has over twenty years industry experience with major seismic contractors, and as a consultant. Since joining Velseis as Chief Geophysicist in 2000, Steve has been responsible for overseeing the geophysical and R&D activities of the group.

  • John McMonagle is a geophysics graduate of the University of Queensland (B.Sc.App.(Hons)). John came to Velseis in 2001, bringing over 10 years of experience in the seismic and computing industries in Australia and Europe. His current work focuses on software and system development, with additional involvement in geophysical special projects.

  • Shaun Strong graduated from University of Queensland with a first-class honours degree in geophysics (B.Sc.(Hons)) in 2003. After a short period doing gravity acquisition, he joined Velseis, working in production data processing and more recently R&D. Currently, his primary focus is on multicomponent research, including acquisition, data processing, algorithm development, and interpretation.

  • Daryn Voss is an Applied Science (Hons.) graduate in Geophysics and University of Queensland Medallist, and spent time with an international contractor before joining Velseis in 2001. Since then he has worked in R&D and production data processing. Daryn has been involved with a range of geophysical special projects and software development initiatives.

  • Alan Meulenbroek graduated from University of Queensland with a first-class honours degree in geophysics (B.Sc.App.(Hons)) in 2006. His role at Velseis is split between field operations and R&D. His research focuses on applications of converted-wave refraction, including shear wave statics analysis. He is enrolled in the M.Phil. degree at University of Queensland.

  • Clement Muthukrishna is an Electrical and Electronics Engineer with more than 20 years industry experience. Since joining Velseis in 1998, he has played a key role in Velseis' ongoing development of computer-controlled seismic acquisition systems.
